Highbrow Redefined: Bold Beautiful Brows
Celebrities like Ke$ha and Lady Gaga are known for their eccentric, bold makeup looks. In 2010, Ke$ha rocked the studded-eyebrow look at the American Music Awards. In November of 2011, Lady Gaga arrived at the MTV VMA’s with glittery, green eyebrows.
This year, playing up eyebrows with glitter and rhinestones seems to be a trend on the catwalk as well. Chanel models donned metallic, 3-D eyebrows during the Fall/Winter 2012/13 runways shows at Paris Fashion Week, with stone-encrusted rectangular panels glued onto the eyebrows. Miu Miu displayed bold makeup trends during Paris Fashion Week for Fall/Winter 2012/13, but the blue and white striped eye-shadows and false lashes were nowhere near as eye catching as the main showcase: stick-on mirror eyebrows.
Don’t just limit brow art to rhinestones and glitter! The use of creative shapes, textures, and materials to enhance the look of eyebrows is just another way the beauty and fashion world has turned art into an acceptable trend. Materials like lace, leather, and pearls can add an edge to any look during a photo shoot, editorial, or night on the town. Let your imagination run free!
For those brave enough to re-create the look, all you need is eyelash glue, a pack of craft store rhinestones, the fabric or material of your choice, and inspiration! These elements paired with a natural face are sure to make a bold statement. For a less dramatic and more subtle look, place a small rhinestone in the corner of each eye. The tiny bit of sparkle is playful but won’t attract too much attention. Although some of us are probably not adventurous enough to rock these bold statement eyebrows in everyday life, we can definitely be inspired and captivated by the trend!
