Trend Alert: Pistachio & Mint
Looking for a fabulous color to introduce into your wardrobe that’s not as tricky as Pantone’s color of the year, “Tangerine Tango”? Two colors with looks as delicious as their names have been making major waves: pistachio and mint green!
Emerging in fashion, hair, accessories, and color cosmetics, the demure yet distinct colors have become top fashion trends. More subtle and wearable than the bright orange color of the year, these hot shades are easy and fun to incorporate into your everyday look. Plus, unlike “Tangerine Tango”, the softer colors are a great compliment for any hair color and skin tone.
Marc Jacobs and Proenza Schouler featured both pistachio and mint in their Spring 2012 collections by incorporating pops of the green hues with neutral grays, blacks, and whites. It’s the perfect way to add color to even the most drab office attires.
Want an even more unique way to incorporate the season’s hot colors into your everyday look? Take a tip from Lady Gaga, who dyed her platinum blonde hair a shade of light mint green.
Cosmetic companies have also been using the pistachio and mint tones, incorporating them into their latest products. Dior showcased a mint green nail polish in its Spring/Summer 2012 runway show.
Titled ‘Waterlily’, the featured nail color is a part of Dior’s make-up collection, Garden Party. Along with Dior, Essie and YSL have also introduced shades of the creamy green hues. Other major color cosmetic houses, such as Giorgio Armani and Lancôme offer eye shadow palettes of pistachio, lilac, brown, and pink to complement one another. Still want to rock the hot trend, but aren’t into the vibrant tones? For a softer version of the hue, check out Lancôme’s Roseraie des Délices Les Vernis in Green Almond.
